Why blocked gutters cost more than a clean

Gutters only do one job: get rainwater away from your walls. When they are full of moss, leaves and silt, the water goes over the edge instead, soaking the brickwork below. That is where green algae streaks, rotten fascias and damp patches on bedroom walls come from.

A routine clear and flush is one of the cheapest bits of maintenance a house gets, and it prevents some of the most expensive problems. If your gutters drip during heavy rain or you can see grass growing out of them, they are overdue.

How we clean your gutters

The platform lifts our operator level with the gutter line, so unlike ladder or pole-and-vacuum work, we can actually see into the whole run. We scoop out the moss and debris by hand, flush the gutters through with water and make sure every downpipe is running freely before we come down.

While we are up there we check the brackets, joints and seals, and wash down the fascias and soffits so the whole roofline looks right. Anything that needs more than a clean, like a sagging run or a failed joint, we photograph and tell you about straight away.

Safer and more thorough than ladders

Ladders lean on the very gutters being cleaned, which is how plastic guttering cracks. And from a ladder you can only reach a short stretch at a time, so blockages get missed. From the platform we work the full run in one pass, including awkward spots over conservatories, extensions and porches that ladders cannot safely reach.
